Worth Repeating

"It takes a long time to amuse a stone"

Norah Pierson was a goldsmith who we supplied gemstones to over the years. She was an extraordinary woman and her jewelry was always unique and powerful. She passed away in 2007. She loved gemstones and below are her words..........

''It takes a long time to amuse a stone''

STONES HAVE A SENSE OF DIGNITY

GREATER THAN THAT OF KINGS,

A SENSE OF HONOR

STRONGER THAN THAT OF FRIENDS.

A SENSE OF HUMOR

MORE SUBTLE THAN THE WEATHER,

IT TAKES A LONG TIME TO AMUSE A STONE.

FIRST YOU MUST CAPTURE ONE

AND CARRY IT AWAY,

RUB IT, OIL IT, CARVE IT, ADMIRE IT, BUILD WITH IT.....

THE STONE WILL NOT COMPLAIN.

IT TAKES A LONG TIME TO AMUSE A STONE.

BIG STONES LIE IN WAIT,

JUST FOR LAUGHS.

AND THEN YOU MUST WAIT,

AND YEARS AFTER YOU ARE GONE, BURIED UNDER YET ANOTHER STONE,

THEN MAYBE, JUST MAYBE, THE STONE WILL BE AMUSED.
